Описание:	CORPUS CREATION A CHILD - 1973/2013 (ITALY) SEALED Stereo AKARMA – AK 113 RECORDS Reissue An underrated American gang from Texas called Corpus. This band arose in 1969 in the city of Corpus Christi, located in the southern part of Texas on the Gulf Coast (by the way, the name of the musicians’ hometown formed the basis for the name of the group). It was created by guitarist William Grate, bassist James “Beaver” Castillo, drummer Frudy Frudy Lianes and vocalist Richard Deleon. Another member of the group was a certain Gilbert Pena Jr., who did not play any instrument, but was responsible for the lyrics. The guys decided to follow in the footsteps of the great heavy blues rock performers, such as Wishbone Ash, early Led Zeppelin, Cream, and their music clearly shows the influence of The Allman Brothers and Little Feat... They began to actively perform at local venues, and quickly became popular . By 1971, they had accumulated enough of their own material, which they decided to capture on vinyl. Going to Freddie’s Studio, located in the musicians’ hometown, they recorded material for their, unfortunately, only album, “Creation A Child,” which was released privately in a very limited edition either in 1971 or 1972. Some music lovers claim that they held this record in their hands, which was generally dated 1973 (it is generally accepted that this event happened in 1971). It featured a mix of heavy guitar riffs with double guitar solos, a strong bass groove and some great vocal harmonies delivered by lead vocalist Richard DeLeon and backing vocals by William Grite. Deleon sounds a lot like Ronnie Van Zant, the lead vocalist of Lynyrd Skynyrd a couple of years before the band became famous. The rhythm section (drums, bass and second guitar) sounds too simple, without imagination, but it copes with its role - keeping the rhythm firmly. The album consists of very uneven quality compositions. It seems that the guys haven't quite decided on a style. I would break the album's material into three categories. The first one, which I liked, is reminiscent of simplified Grand Funk from the same period. Songs in this category are either heavy blues (“Cruising”) or blues ballads (“Joy”, “Creation a Child”, “Mythical Dream”). And honestly, it's the best thing here. The compositions that make up the second category, although inferior to those included in the first, are also perceived well. This is quite mainstream rock, including the bluesy-flavored pop-rock “Marriage” and the rock ballad “Not Mine.” Well, the third category is boring boogie / rock’n’roll (“Just a Man”, “We Can Make Me It Luv”, “Where is She”), which still does not cause rejection... The ease with which the musicians play gives the impression that the music was created by a team of seasoned professionals, and not by an unknown group. It may come as a surprise to listeners that the group consisted of teenagers - the swagger and confident demeanor suggested a much older and wiser age. Adding to the music's appeal are realistic lyrics about relationships and fatherhood, planned and unplanned, that maintain a male point of view without becoming macho clichés. Mature lyrics about marriage are unusual for such a young group. Probably the guys were local heroes among children walking around their hometown... The team planned a second album, but it never materialized. Perhaps in another time and place the group would have achieved success, but it didn’t work out. Summarizing all of the above, I can note that the album, despite all its shortcomings, is impressive and a must-listen for fans of rock of the 70s.
